BUTTER MAKET REPORT.

Messrs. E. Griffiths & Co., New Plymouth, are in receipt |of the following Market Report from their Lnodon Principals, Messrs. Mill & Sparrow, dated the 18th of February, 1910. The weather has been very unsettled with a high temperature for the period of the year. Danish :—The quotation has been reduced 3 kroner. French :—Supplies continue very light and prices of lower grades have advanced slightly. Australian :—The S.S. “ Morea ” was well up to time, and some of her Butters were not on the market on Monday last. Unfortunately the quality this week is not up to the high standard that it has been, and |quite a Tew brands are now showing i signs of heat. Trade during this week has been good, but at prices rather lower than last, as lit was found that the previous rates were straining things rather too much, and it has been necessary to give away a few shillings in order to keep the Butters moving. New Zealant : —Considering lower prices have had to be taken to get buyers to take their regular brands ex s. s. “Athenic”. The trade w.ent very slow at 120 s and over and the fact that the s.s “Turakina” was not cleared up to time the s s. “Athenic” arrived plainly proves that the price was rather too high. Todays values are 116 s, 118 s and at these quotations we expect the butters will clear. Argentine :—This butter has also shared in the general reduction of values j but is now selling fairly well. j CHEESE. J Canadiau : —Quotations are still 1/higher ; scarcity of the fine quality is now l very marked. ; New Zealand-.—Trade has been steady ; at last week’s quotations, prices are now j on a fairly satisfactory level, and it is to ] be :hoped that the irade will continue I good, so as to clear the arrivals as they ] come to hand. j
