Gas Explosion in Brisbane.
A sutious qa a explosion occuned in the btiong-ioom ot the A.M. P. Society's new olhoe*, Brisbane. It appears that a gas jet had been left burning on Saturday, and having exhausted the*" atmosphere it musb ha\e "gone out. On opening the doors in the morning the 100 m was found to be full ot gat, and the tap lull on. About tun minutes viete allowed to elapse, and the clerk then -.vent in with a lighted match to get &ome books. A loud explosion ensued. He was thrown down, and a largo llame buit-t out to the row of desks opp'obite, where several clerks were seated, betting tire to documents and singeing their hair. Not much damage wab done. Thiec employees recehed such a shock as to lender them temporarily unlit for v. oik.
