THE MINES.
There i8 ) very little of importance to chronicle from any of the mines this week. New Find. — The low level has been advanced another 17ft since wages men j were put on, and is now in about 220 ft. The country continues rather tight, but a change for the better is expected shortly. Stoping is proceeding- much us usual. Tile stopes on No. 1 reef north and south from the low , level continue to yield good crushing dirt. Driving is still progressing on No. 1 reef south from the Arizona level. The reef presents a nice kindly ! appearance, and has improved during the past few da.ys. A start to rise on this I portion of the reef was made about a weok since, and the reef looks well in the rise, showing nice gold. Some of the hands have been engaged stoping on the footwall portion of No. 1 reef above the low level, and from here also payable dirt is being won. A considerable quantity of crushing dirt is coming to hand from the Surface of No.l reef ; and the workings here have been connected with the stopes from Arizona level, and a good deal of gold is to be seen in the quaitz being obtained fiom them ]ust now.
