ACTION OF THE GOVERNMENT. REWARD OF £200.

Wellington, June 30. The attention of the Government haa been drawn by various Auckland members to the desirability of taking steps to capture Caffrey and Penn, the Great Barrier murderers. Messrs Henderson and Spraggon telegraphed to Mi Thomson that the Sovereign of the yeas was supposed to be coming down the coast, and suggesting that the Hinemoa might be sent to catch her with murderers Ministers informed Mr Thomson that every precaution is being taken alone the coast, and if they find it necessary they will employ the Hinemoa for the purpose. In the House yesterday afternoon, Mr Hamliu asked, without notice, whether there is any possibility of assistance being rendered by the vessels of H.M. .Navy, at present cruising in the Pacific station, towards the capture of the Great Barrier murderers, who may possibly endeavour to take shelter on some of the islands of the Pacific. The Premier replied promising to take action. I have subsequently learned that the Government have telegraphed to Sydney, and also sent instructions to Suva and Levuka (Fiji), and His Excellency is wiring to Admiral Tryon about a vessel visiting the islands, etc. Masters of all coasting vessels are asked to keep a watch, and to return to the nearest telegraph station should they see the Sovereign of the Seas. A reward of £200 is offered for the capture of the men. One of the Government "" steamers will visit the coast, as it is possible they may put into a bay near East Capo for water or other supplies.
