Cr. Champion brought up the ques* tion of borough by-laws and their enforcement, instancing the danger to cuiMien of driving horses in ths streets

Cr. Wrightson said the question of thj bylaws was a very big one. Tie was afraid the drafting of comprehensive and effective by-laws was quite beyond the Council; it was no good for laymen to undertake it. It would be best for the Council to place the whole matter in the hands of a firm of solicitors expert in such matters. The time was fast aproachinff when Taihape would have to face the position.

The Mayor agreed that the drawing Up of by-laws was a matter for experts, and that sooner or later something would have to be done. Considerable discussion took place on the naming of the borough strMtS, which is reported in Column. The Council then adjourned.
