NATIONAL EXPENDITURE.

(Reuter.) LONDON, July 21

In the House of Commons, the Hon. R. .McKenna, in reply to questions, said the rise in the rate o‘ national expenditure during the past seven weeks was due (1) to the Government’s purchases of American so curities; (2) the rate at which advances to Allies and the Dominion? had been drawn upon. He was hopeful that the expenditure would decline.
