At the Taihape Borough Council meeting last night, -Or. Wrightson ■ handed to the Council a letter which had been entrusted to him by the Secretary of the Taihape Girls’ Gymnasium. The letter challenged the present and past councillors to a game of hockey, and stipulated that the girls would wear fancy costumes, and that the male players would have to wear skirts and play one-handed. Cr. Barnett caused great amusement by suggesting that the matter be left in the hands of the Works Committee, but eventually several' councillors took the matter up, and it is understood that a strong team is to be formed. A hockey match in which a nuftibcr of Taihape’s representative citizens are contestants would no doubt create a great deal of interest, and if the proceeds of the function are in aid of patriotic funds, this should be a further incentive for i onlookers to attend in good numbers.

Now is the time to secure an excellent building site, within a stone ’f. throw of the business centre of a town that is sure to grow in importance. Raetihi is the business town o' a vast extent of excellent farming country, whose operations must always pass through the town. The town itself is now being developed, and a large loan has lately been arranged for the further improvement of the streets, etc., and it will not be long before water, drainage, and ele.ct.riet righting conveniences are available. On completion of the branch railway, which is now being constructed, the township will be linked up with the Main Trunk Line, and it promises to be one of the busiest and most important inland towns in the North Island. Suitable sections in this desirable locality are extremely difficult to obtain, and the present sub-division offers an excellent opportunity for investors to obtain a holding which may not occur again for a long time. The sale of these sections is to take place in the Theatre Royal, Raetilu, on Friday, Ist October, Messrs. Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., being the auctioneers. Exceptionally easy terms are offered.
