R.S.A. EXECUTIVE.
The executive of the Christehurch branch of the Beturned Soldiers' Association met last evening, Mr H. J. Knight occupying the chair. Tt was reported that 10 new members had joined tho association during the past week. Several cases of increased pensins and gratuity payments were reported as being due to representations made by the association. - tl was decided to hold a meeting of returned soldiers and their dependents at Lyttelton, in order to explain the work of the association and to discuss the question of establishing a returned soldiers' club at the port. A report was presented by the secretary of a recent meeting of the Dominion Executive of the E.SA. The report evidenced that the executive was very much alive to the requirements and interests ■ of returned men. Several schemes for their benelt were in hand. I It was decided that the secretary should proceed to Wellington to interview Brigadier-General D. J. McGavin regarding T.B. matters. A letter was received from the Go-vernor-General, Viscount Jellicoe, stating that he would not be able to visit Christehurch' until the end of February,' but if no inconvenience would be caused by the delay to the members of the club, he would be very pleased indeed to open the new club rooms. He would give three weeks' notice of tho date of his arrival. The letter concluded by wishing the new club every success.
