PRICES IN 1883. An interesting list of prices was advertised in a New Zealand paper in 1883. Boots were 3/11 and (5/(3; glace kid shoes, 7/6; tennis shoes, 3/9; and children's strap shoes, 1/- to 1/11. The “Evening Post,” Wellington, remarks; "And then there are people who ask why large families cannot be brought up'nowadays, when wages and salaries are so much higher.” In all homes where there are children Gerstena should be the family breakfast. It is so economical. One bag will go as far as double its weight of other foods, and it’s a great favourite with the kiddies—-it's delicious, and so good for them.
