METHVEN HOCKEY CLUB BALL.

The annual ball of the Methvon Ladies' Hockey (Hub was held in the Public Hall on Friday evening. There was a large attendance, among those present being visitors from Ashburton, Rakaia and Hinds. The music was supplied by Mr Pabouru, of Christchurch, while extras were played by Miss M. Goodwin and Mr F. Anderson. The hall was tastefully decorated, the club colours (black and white) being utilised in the scheme. Over 50 couples paraded for the grand march. Amongst those present were: Mrs Roll, who wore ;i becoming gown ol black glace silk relieved Willi gold tissue; Mis K. Aitken, black taffeta; Mrs Foster, lemon crepe de Chine; Miss Fawcetl (Kaiapoi), brown glace silk, relieved with sold georgette and insertion; Miss Campbell, ;< smart black gown of velvet trimmed witli champagne aeroplume; Miss L. Fountain (Ashburtoii), black silk; Miss Fitzgerald (Ash-; burton), black ninon; Miss Suttie (Ashbur- ! ton), saxc blue crepe de Chine; Miss M. Kerr (Ashbnrtonl, heliotrope georgette; Miss Burns, black velvet; Miss Watson, white crepe de Chine; Miss McCulloch (Middleniarch), black silk skirt and electric blue ninon blouse; Miss Bennett (Hilton), brown ninon with touches of white; Miss Eva Chambers, pale pink georgette; Miss Jessie McKay, black taffeta; Miss Hampton (Hinds), black georgette and Tiffany silk. Others present included: Miss Hell (Christchurch), .Misses McKcndrv, Dumphv, Nee, Crooks, lloss (2), Stack (3), Middleton (.'ls Goodwin (:i), Bryden, and Anderson (2), Messrs Tomlinson, Mollison, Cooper, Anderson, It. Allen, Burrows (2), .1. Crnmmoml ! (Ashburton), and many others. Messrs Lawrence and Duff carried out the duties of M.C.'s very efficiently, while Mr ,1. | Lysaght made an admirable secretary.
