PIGEON FLYING.
Tin- Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club flew :i raff from Auckland nn Ssiluriluv, Januarv 10. Twenty-nine birds competed, divided amongst 11 lulls. The birds were liberated by Mr 1". Coster at 12.15 p.m. hi line wraihrr and nor'-wesl wind, which prevailed nil through the Journev. Owing to the lateness nf the liberation' mine of the birds reached home on the day of toss, lint early next morning Mirer lots timed hi a bird each, practically only seconds dividing the prize-winners. Messrs YYoodhousc Bros. 1 White Throat turned out to be the winner of llrst and special prizes, living the distance of 17!) miles Mill yards air-line in 11 lir 2:imln 55scc, lieating the previous record time by lhr I7min. Woodhouse Bros. will also hold for one year the club's valuable challenge trophy for Auckland races. The following is the velocity recorded Israeli owner's bird that timed in:—Woodhouse llros.'
