HOLDING UP A STREET.
MAN WITH UNLOADED RIFLE. Tress Association. DUNEDIN, January I.'!. An undischarged soldier named Leonard Ceorge Robertson, who appeared to bo suffering from the effects of excessive drinking, took charge of his mother's shop, 82 Bay View Road, this evening, ami emphasised his threats by a demonstration with a rifle. His mother took to the street in alarm, and Robertson proceeded to take charge of the street by means of a rifle. Constable Milne came on the scene, land, in spite of repeated threats from Robertson, who promised sudden death to all and sundry, dashed in and got hold of the ride. A violent struggle ensued, in the course of which Robertson's arm was broken. Subsequently it turned out that the rifle, which had played so prominent a part in the proceedings, was not loaded.
