When questioned by a reporter tolight regarding allegations by the Returned Soldiers' Association, that unfit men w#re being prematurely discharged. Sir .lames Allen said the matter ha<l come umler his notice, and he had been assured by the Medical Department that the action of the board could be fully justified.- The action taken was in the interests of the men themselves, as under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act a sohlier was precluded from the benefits of the Act until he received his discharge. He was not in a position to go into the matter, as no specific cases had yet been brought under his notice.
