INFLUENZA.
POSITION IN AUSTRALIA. ABORIGINES ATTACKED. By Cahlc. — Press Association. — Copyright. SYDNEY, March 3. There was one death to-day from influenza in Sydney. Influenza is ravaging tho aborigines' eamp in the Northern Eivers districts. Numerous cases and five deaths are reported.
RESTRICTIONS REMOVED. (Rec. March 4, 9.5) MELBOURNE, March 4. Five additional deaths from influenza are reported. A proclamation has been issued removing all influenza restrictions. DEVELOPING IN ENGLAND. Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 3. A cablegram from the High Commissioner states that the present influenza wave in Great Britain is developing. Returns for the week ended February 22 show that the number of deaths in 96 great towns had been 3046, as against 186:? for tho previous week. London's total was 653, as compared with 273 the previous week. Previous sufferers, although not immune, are afforded a certain amount of protection.
OUTBREAK ON TRANSPORT. Press Association. AUCKLAND, March :!. The Defence authorities have been advised that 58 cases of influenza have occurred amongst the men of draft 219, on the steamer Port Melbourne. The cases developed since the vessel loft England, but, so far as is known, none are serious. Should extended quarantine be necessary the men will be quartered at Motuihi Island.
