MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
TO-DAY'S CASES. Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court l!iis morning. Drunkenness.—Arthur Lewis Finch, who had two previous convictions for drunkenness, was charged with being found drunk and also with being an idle and disorderly person, in that he had insufficient lawful means of support. Prisoner sturdily denied that he was a vagrant, and protested that police evidence of his penchant for loitering around hotels was untrue. Accused was convicted and sentenced to three months' imprisonment. Civil Cases.—Judgment by default was given for plaintiffs, with costs, in the following civil cases:—New Zealand Farmers* Co-op. Liston, 9/6; same v., Porter Bros, £7 13 •'-; New Zealand Motor Exchange, Ltd., v. 11. Mchertens, ,£10; H. Alexandre v. 15. T. Watkinson, £6 2 7; Dominion Compressed Yeast Co., Ltd. v. Porter Bros., £7 0/3; Bristol Piano Co., Ltd. v. John Henry Cairns, £ll 12'-; W. YV. Kcighley and Co. v. Emily Ilaydon and Thomas Crossan, £ll 1 '!); F. C. Raphael v. George Griffiths, £ls. F. D. Kesteven (Mr R. B. Hill) proceeded against Norman McLauchlan for the sum of £l7 8/0. Debtor was ordered to pay amount due, in default two months' imprisonment. F. "D. Kesteven (Mr R. B. Hill) claimed the amount of £:SO 15/8 of A. F. Collins. Judgment was given for plaintiff, In default two months' imprisonment. F. D. Kesteven v. H. Rodgers was dismissed.
