McAdoo (Secretary to the Treasury) has granted increased wages to Ihe railwavmen, amounting to $3(10,(1(10,000 annually, and also recognition of the show day. To meet the increased rail waymen's wages, Mr McAdoo has ordered a 2ii per cent, freight rate in- ! rease and half a cent, a mile inlcase in passenger's fares on all railroads. Tins is the largest rate of increase in the history of the railroads. It is expected that the increased annual revenue will be from SBOO,000,000 to *!>00,000,000.
