Mr C. 11. Poole, M.P. for Auckland West, is to leave for England shortly, oil Y.M.C.A. work.

The Hon. D..Buddo, M.P:, and the Rev. T. A. .loughin arrived from Wellington this morning. Private Thomas M. Quinlan, killed in action, whs the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Quinlan, of North Loburn, and was 26 years of age. Second-Lieutenant If. P. Raphael, who has been attached to Canterbury military district headquarters for some time, is now temporarily attached to the area group office at Tiniaru.

Lieutenant-Colonel M. M. Card 'ner, R.N.Z.A., Lieutenant-Colonel J. Fitzgerald, N.Z.M.C, and Captain G. de B. Devereux were among the Marnroa's passengers from Wellington this morning. „.•?

The Hon. Sir William Fraser, Minister of Public Works, returned to Chriatchurch last evening from South Canterbury. He will remain in Christchurch until to-morrow evening, and then will leave for Wellington. Colonel the Hon. W. E. Collins, C.M.G., at present Assistant-Director of Medical Services at Headquarters, is to leave New Zealand shortly in charge of the medical staff of a hospital ship. His place on the staff will be taken by Lieutenant-Colonel Matthew Holmes. Trivate Edward Frederick (Ted) Kibblewhite, reported killed in action on April 17, was well known in Christchurch. He was born in Christchurch and educated at the Woolston and Rangiora Schools. Prior to enlisting with the.24th Reinforcement, Private Kibblewhite was for many years on the staff of the Christchurch Gas Company. He was married to a daughter of Mr W. 11. Triggs, of Edward Avenue, St. Albans. Major H. J. Paltry, D.5.0., N.Z.F.A., has been appointed Live Stock Commissioner* for Yorkshire. Major Daltry is a son of Mr and Mrs G. Daltry, of Merivale. Before he left New Zealand as a

lieutenant, with the 2nd Reinforcement, he was on the staff of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company. He had charge of the first howitzer battery landed on Gallipoli. Major Daltry was mentioned in dispatches from Gallipoli, and also from France.
