WELLINGTON R.C.'S WINTER MEETING. Press Association. WELLINGTON. July 11. Dull weather was experienced for the opening day of. the Winter Meeting of the Wellington Racing Club. Considering that no special trains were run, the attendance was satisfactory, many going out by motor conveyances. The Governor-General and party from Government House were present. Passing the stand Soporific, Fagot, and Kirkby were in the lead, but Kirkby took charge going along the back. Passing the stand the second time Kirkby and Fagot led, with Merry Lad and Collector as their nearest attendants. Braeburn, when occupying a good position, fell at the fence near the mile post, and Soporific ran off at the next fence. Five furlongs from home Crib took the lead, but he was passed by Merry Lad entering the straight. Crib was first over the hencoop, at which E! Gallo fell, and he won by five lengths, the third horse being 20 lengths away. Time, 7niin 17sec. PARLIAMENTARY HANDICAP, of 400 soys. One mile and a-quarter.—l4 Orleans 9.5 (C.
