BECKENHAM RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION.

The usual monthly meeting of the above association was held in Mr Peek's Hall on Monday evening, the chairman (Mr McAllister) presiding over a good attendance of members. Prior to the ordinary business a motion of sympathy was passed (members standing) to his Worship the Mayor, Mrs Holland, and family, in the loss of their son, Sergeant Holland. A petition, signed by i>o4 residents and ratepayers, praying for the removal of the septic tank at the Malcolm Avenue, was laid on the table, and arrangements were made for a deputation to wait upon the Mayor at an early date.

A strong deputation wailed upon Mr Peek, asking that gentleman to again offer his servcies and contest the municipal election in April. After due consideration Mr Peek consented to the request, and will stand as an independent candidate.
