There re some excitement in South Wales regarding a pacifists' conference, to be held at Merthyr on December !>, as the outcome of the breaking-up of a similar conference at Cardiff", [t is stated that the pacifists have engaged 250 lusty stewards. The Rhondda miners have warned Mr J Winstone that the pacifists' meeting will not be tolerated, and has asked Mr C. B. Stanton, M.P., to request Mr Herbert Samuel (Home Secretary) to prohibit the proceedings. [At ;i by-election for Mcrthyr-Tydfll in November, 1915, Sir C. B. Stanton (Labour) defeated Mr J.
