Colonel Slocum Castleton (Frank Keenan) was a gay blade in his day and one of his names had been the celebrated opera singer Bosita. But one night returning to his apartment had found her with another man and had promptly dropped her. Now he Is a respected Southern gentleman, living quietly with his wife and son Bodney. Bodney (Chas. Bay) is in love with Bosalie Carey a distant cousin and the prospective match is thoroughly acceptable to the parents. Then Bodney goes to the New York University. There Bodney falls into bad company and is introduced to Viola Bretagne (Louise Glaum) a cabaret dancer. \ She, realising that he is A a young man of consid\erable means ,spreads her net to catch him and very soon after Bodney writes home to his father \ that he is going to marry ) "the sweetest little girl in New York." The old M man at once comes to 1 New York and takes ' } the girl away. Then it / developes that Viola is ' the daughter of Bosita. Viola wins Bodney back and takes her to his home, the old man determines on the way to get rid of her, and it is one of the most terrible, and one of the most thrilling scenes ever shown upon the screen.
