MAIREHAU.
The Mairehau ]lall is now near completion, ami the committee has decided that the official opening shall take place on December 14. The opening ceremony is to be performed by Mrs S. A. Staples, wife of the chairman of the Waimairi Conuty Council. Invitations are to be sent to the lions. G. \V. Russell, M.P., IX Buddo, M.P., Colonel the Hon. R; 11. Rhodes, M.P., L. M. Isitt, M.P., members, engineer, and clerk of the Waimairi Council, Colonel and Mrs G. F. Hutton, Mr and Mrs A. E. G. Rhodes, Mr W. T. Ward, Chief Postmaster, Clnistehurch, Mr C. Clank, Telegraph Engineer, the Revs. D. P. Rodger. T. M. Curnow, C. Strand, the Rev. Father lloare, ami other old identities uf the district, as well as to ex-members of the old Avon Road Board. The ladies of the district held a meeting last Thursday night, which was very largely attended. They have taken up the matter very enthusiastically, and have prepared a tonst list for the afternoon function, and an excellent concert programme for the evening.
