ROSE FETE.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Rose Fete Committee was held yesterday afternoon. Mr .1. Jamieson presiding. The proprietor of the Antigua boat slieils offered the committee the use of his whole lleet of boats. All arrangements have been made for motor rides to be run in the Park. It was also suggested that efforts be made to obtain a " Dark town Brigade." The bowling clubs have agreed to put off all fixtures for the day of the fete. Barnett and Co.'s offer of the use of their window for advertising was accepted. The Post Ofliec has offered to supply an officer, if the committee will provide pens and paper. The admission tickets will not be taken at the gates, but will be stamped to prevent them being used again. It was decided to try to arrange with his Excellency the Governor to open the fete. If his Excellency cannot attend, the committee will endeavour to arrange for the ceremony to be performed by a .Minister. Entries for the Rose Show, to be held in connection with the Patriotic Rose Fete on December 2, in the Botanical Gardens, will (dose with the secretary (Mr .7. Timbrell), at the Canterbury Horticultural Society's office, 7 Baker's Buildings, 166 Manchester Street, on Wednesday, November 2!), at 8 p.m. Schedules may be obtained at A. W. Buxton, Ltd., C. E. Gibbons and Co.,and from the secretary, Ve*eians' Associations Rooms, 94 Gloucester Street, or will be posted if desired, if applicants ring telephone 2920. Applications for space for exhibition only will be received at the san e time of entries dosing, from the trade or person desirous of showing some new or rare plants, stating space required. The Rose Show will be the principal attraction at the fete, and should be well worth a visit.
