AVON ROWING CLUB.

The first heat of the Trial Fours was rowed off on Wednesday night, when G. Byron's crew beat C. Hart's crew after a very exciting race. The most noticeable point of the race was the fine stroke set by Byron, which certainly won them the race. The final was rowed on Thursday night; and, after a well contested race, W. Reader's crew gained the verdict by two lengths. This was Reader's first appearance as stroke; and, although a little on the light side, he is a very promising oarsman. The winning crew was: W. Reader (st), A. Nightingale (3), J. Foley (2), L. Davis (bow). The new members pair-oared.race will come off next week. So far, A. Henry and J. McGeorge seem to be making the most progress and will be hard to beat.
