SALES OF CERTIFICATES. The following figures indicate the sales of war loan certificates in various centres up to November 15:—
The poor showing which Aucklaiul is niiiking in the matter of war loan certificates was again referred lo by the Hon. A. M. Myers when lie was in that city on Wednesday last. The Minister said that in Wellington Hie investment per head of population works out at £1 17/8, inlnvereargill CI 1(i/(i, in Christehurch £1 1(5/2, in Duncdin £1 14/4, and in Auckland only 17/4. II will he seen from these figures, be went on to say, that the people of Auckland are a long way behind those of the other principal cities in assisting to swell the war loan, and i! behoves them in order to improve their position in the figures quoted above to make every effort to increase their purchases of these certificates, "It is lo be hoped," concluded Mr Myers, "that when next 1 have a return prepared of the same nature as the above, Auckland will have made up most, ii' not all, of tier leeway."
