GERMANS EXPECTANT.

BOMBARDMENT EXTENDS. NO LONGER CONFINED TO SOMME. * Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, October 3. The "Daily Telegraph's" Rotterdam correspondent says:—The continuous bombardment is no longer confined to the Somme. The enemy positions in Flanders have been subjected to unbroken gun fire since Saturday. Westward of the horizon, searchlight beams stabbed the whole night long along the Belgian coast, where the Germans were tensely expectant. The "Frankfurter Zeitung" gives a warning against surprises in quiet places, especially when all eyes are directed towards the centre of the heavy fighting.
