MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

TO-DAY'S CASES.

Messrs C. P. Ager and F. Christian, J. P.'s, presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day. DRUNKENNESS. George McCormack, a second offender for drunkenness, was fined 10/-. Charles Dowzer, on being charged (villi a third offence of drunkenness wii-hin the statutory period, admitted that ho was a bit "inky" last evening. A fine of 20/- was imposed, in default seven days' imprisonment. WITHOUT A LIGHT. William Johnston was fined 10/- and costs for cycling at night without a light. PILLION BIDING. A conviction only, without penalty, was recorded against William Hunter Will, charged with carrying a passenger on a motor cycle. ALONE ON THE HIGHWAY. For permitting a horse to wander on ihe roads,/.F. Anderson was fined 5/and costs. A fine of 10/- and costs was imposed against C. ButtcrficM, who allowed catJo to stray unattended on the roads. For a similar offence, G. Davis was convicted and ordered to pay the costs." T. Illingworth and T. Newton were each fined 20/- and costs for allowing horses to wander. LYTTELTON. Mr 11. W. Bishop, S.M., presided over a sitting of the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court this morning, DRUNKENNESS. Fanny Louisa Prcseott was declared an habitual drunkard, and committed to Pakatoa for two years. The woman pleaded hard for another chance, but the Magistrate said it was in the best interests of her children that she should be sent away. PROHIBITION ORDER. Charles O'Malley, charged with a breach of his prohibition order, was lined 10/-, or in default 4S hours' imprisonment. James Kihlare, on a similar charge, was convicted; and ordered to pay costs. John Whitberg was ordered to come tip for sentence when called upon on a charge of procuring liquor while prohibited. Prohibition orders were issued against two Maoris. MAINTENANCE. Archibald Olson was granted a cancellation of a maintenance order.
