TO-DAY'S CASES. Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., sat at the Magistrate's Court to-day, DRUNKENNESS. A first offender was fined 5/-. George .Tames Melling, a second offender, was fined 10/-. in default 48 hours' imprisonment. A DOUBLE EVENT. Two charges of entering licensed j premise* whilst prohibited were preferred against Peter Nolan, who did not appear, and was lined l' l /- on each charge. A SOCIABLE DISPOSITION. John Evan was ■•harged with lieing in arrears with a maintenance order, and with trespassing on his wife'f premises during a separation order. Mr Williams, for the man. said defendant had heard sounds of revelling :.roeeeding from the house, and had entered to take part in the proceedings, only to find that a.gramophone was re sponsible for the entertainment. The ■ lrtah would not offend again. A sentence of three months' imprison'ment was imposed for the failure to pay ;arrears, the warrant to be suspended provided 10/- a week was contributed : off the amount. He was convicted 'had ordered to refund the money. Hans Knudsen pleaded guilty to a charge of deserting from the Shaw. Snvill Company's Knramea at 'Welling;ton on October 1. He was sentenced to one mouth's imprisonment.
