The Westralia left Sydney June 2!); arrived Auckland July 3; left Auckland July 17; due back Sydney July 21. NOTES. The Kaikourn trader Wakatu is due at Lyttelton to-night from Kaikoura. She sails to-morrow evening for Wellington, via Kiakoura. The New Zealand Shipping Co.'s liner Opawa, which left Wellington in May last , with a very large and valuable cargo for • London, via Albany, arrived safely at her destination on July 3. The old Shaw, Savill ship Nelson, which left Newcastle on March 1 last with 1720 tons of coal for Pisagua (South America). lias evidently had good dispatch, as the old ship left that port on July 8 for Sydney. The Shaw, Savill liner lonic, which left Sydney on May II for London, via Albany and Cape Town, arrived safely at her destination on July 8. The lonic loaded a large and valuable cargo at New Zealand ports, and completed her loading in Australia. The Shaw, Savill liner Tainui arrived at Lyttelton this morning from Loudon, via way ports. The vessel has a quantity of in ward cargo to discharge here. She proceeds to Dunedin about Saturday to complete her discharge. The Canterbury Shipping Company's Calm has been delayed in the north by bad weather, and is not due here until to-morrow. The vessel sails in the evening for Dun edin and Timaru, and returns about Tuesday to load general cargo for Wellington and Wangamii. The Union Company's Corinna, which was to have arrived at Lyttelton this morning from Picton, will not arrive until to-mor-row. The vessel then sails for Dunedin. Oamaru, and Timaru. and returns on Tuesday next to load for Nelson and New Ply niouth. The Canterbury Shipping Co.'s Breeze has been delayed at Napier owing to bad weather, and is not now due at Lyttelton until to-morrow. The vessel leaves in the even ing for Dunedin. and returns about Tuesday next to load general cargo, etc., for Picton and \Vangnnui. The auxiliary schooner Eunice, which is now being run by Captain Munro, of the Canterbury Shipping Co., is due at Lyttelton any time now with a cargo of timber from Kaipara. Upon completion of discharge the vessel will again load produce 1. ,• Kaipara, and will return to Lyttelton w.th timber.

The Westport Coal Company's Canopus will be brought out of dock to-day, and will sail to-night for Westport. The vessel again loads Coal for this port, but will discharge part cargo at cither Wellington or Timaru. * PALOONA'S TRANSHIPMENTS. The Union Company's Paloona arrived at Lyttelton this morning from Melbourne, via Bluff and Dunedin. The vessel brought transhipments ex steamers Malwa, Mongolia. Sealda, and.Palma, the following being the principal lines: 17 bales printed matter, 19 casks linseed oil, 080 bags salt, 5 hogsheads wine, 93 cases and casks wine, 20 bags saltpetre, 2 cases raisins, 132 boxes currants, 20 cases lemons, 6 eases oranges, 16 barrels oil, 23 bags cocksfoot, 8 cases paper, (i cases stiffencr, 90 cases rubber goods, 13 cases solution, 3 cases stationery, 4 cases furnishings. 20 cases horseshoes, 54 sacks grass seed. 31 packages macaroni, 35 boxes lexias, 115 boxes sultanas, 1W bars iron, 3 bundles trees, 2 cases medicines, 8 cases essences, 150 sacks Hour, 972 bags superphosphates, 1178 packages tea, 25 packages dessicated cocoanut, and a large quantity of sundries. The vessel sails tonight for Melbourne, via Wellington. AN IMPORTANT ARRIVAL. The Edgar F. Luckcnbach, the first of the Luckcnbach Line to visit the Dominion, arrived at Auckland yesterday morning from New York, via Panama Canal, laden with case oil for the Vacuum Oil Company, and inaugurating the regular cargo service from New York which has recently been arranged by the Luckcnbach Line. The l-xigar F. Luckcnbach is a new ship of 9000 tons gross, and has only just left the builders' yards, this being her maiden voyage. From Auckland she proceeds to Napier and Wellington, and is due there about August (i. She subsequently goes south to Lyttelton, Timaru. and Dunedin, being due here about August 10. STEAMER CONSTRUCTION AT HONG KONG. The Taikoo Dockyard and Engineering Co. of Hong Kong, Ltd., have recently launched from their yard in Hong Kong the singlescrew steamer Kajang, built and enghied by them to the order of Messrs Alfred Holt and Co., Liverpool, and they expect to launch within a lew weeks a sister ship for the same owners, to be named Kamuning. The following are the dimensions and other particulars of these two vessels:— Length overall, 288 ft 6:n; length on load Mater line, 276 ft; breadth moulded, Hit; depth moulded, 21ft Din. lvuch vessel has two complete steel decks, the upper deck being teak-sheathed, short forecastle deck, six watertight bulkheads, open floors, except in engine and boiler rooms, where a double bottom is lifted for carrying fresh Water, ami has been built with special scantlings for coasting purposes and to Board of Trade requirements for passangers. The facilities for handling cargo expeditiously are very complete. Six steam cranes of Messrs ,1. H. Wilson and Co.'s make are litted, also eight steam winches by the same makers, with suitable derricks, and one 20-ton derrick. A Clarke Chapman quick-warping windlass is fitted on the forecastle deck, and the steam steering gear is by Messrs John Hastie and Co. Electric light is fitted throughout each vessel, the engine and dynamo being of the Sutherland Forge Co.'s make.

Tlie machinery consists of one set of triple-expansion engines having cylinders lSiil, 29in, and 48in in diameter, with a stroke of .'Klin, steam being supplied by two single-ended boilers having a working pressure of 1851b per square inch.
