A CURIOUS POINT.
————i..-.#.i .■ ■ ' ■■■-■ WORKER REPRESENTS EMPLOYERS. CONCILIATION BOARD PROBLEM. Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 9. A curious point arose to-day at a sitting of the Conciliation Board, which was considering a request for increased pay. Objection was taken by the Fish Trade Union to Mr Adam Nixon's appearing as an assessor for the employers, on the ground that he is the president of the Australasian Federation Seamen's Union. Mr Nixon said that he felt it his duty, as representing 1700 seamen who are fighting for their country, to call a halt on the subject of the increased cost of living to their dependents. The commissioner (Mr T. Harle Giles) ruled that Mr Nixon was employed on a trav/ler, his employers were justified in sending him to represent them. At his suggestion the Fish Trade Union waived the objection.
