RUGBY FOOTBALL.
FIRST GRADE COMPETITION. The Canterbury Rugby Union has received an entry for its first grade competition from the Lincoln College Club, and the union's Competitions Committee has accepted the entry. The Christchurch Club, which entered two teams, has found itself unable to raise more than one team, and therefore has withdrawn its B learn. ** REFEREES' "ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Referees' Association was held last evening. Mr C. Buchanan presided over a good attendance, i A letter was received from Mr J. T. Weston, resigning from membership of the association, on account of ill-health.—The resignation was accepted with regret. The secretary to the New Zealand Referees' Association notified that the annual meeting of that body will be held in Wellington on May 1!). The mailer of arranging for the attendance of a delegate at that meeting was left to the chairman. The next meeting was set down for the last Monday in the present month.
