Arrangements are well in hand for a patriotic fAte to be held in the Kimberley Domain "on St. Patrick's Bay, when it'is hoped lo considerably augment this total. HALSWELL. A meeting of the llalswell Patriotic Committee was held in the Hall on Monday evening. In the absence of Mr Eaglcsome, Mr Comer conducted the meeting. Subsequently Mr Paterson was re-elected chairman. Several members of the Sprcydon Committee attended. The chief object was to devise a scheme for the raising of the country's quota. II was moved by Mr Murphy, seconded by .M r Murray, that the council levy a rate of id in the £. An amendment, was proposed by Mr Wright, seconded by Mr Blomers, that a garden fete be substituted and held in the Domain." After some discussion the amendment was lost, and the motion was carried unanimously. Mr Mulcoek moved: "That the chairman of the County Council be requested to call a meeting of ratepayers, to be held in the llalswell Public Hall at 8 p.m. at an advertised date.'-' This was seconded by Mr Wright, and carried. A motion by Mr Ferguson, seconded bv Mr Mulcoek: "That the Bed Cross' Funds remain veduutarv," was also carried.
