The guessing competition for cushion made and donated by Mrs J. R. Triggs was won by Miss Pauline Shoobridge, who returned it to the depot for the good of the fund. Mr Harry Thomas has collected a further £6 14/6 for the Overseas Tobacco Fund, which will be forwarded to London by the first mail. Mr W. P. Raphael, dentist, has donated a £lO 10/- set of teeth, for which the depot want a buyer. On Friday (Christmas Eve) the ladies of the Burwood-Shirley Red Cross Guild held a sale at the Depot of Foodstuffs of all kinds, which was generously patronised the public, and resulted in the extremely satisfactory sum of £9B being added -to the funds. The [ladies wish to thank all those who by personal help or by gifts contributed to the success of the sale. The cake-guess-ing competition was won by Miss Greer, £3 Poulson Street, Addington.
RED CROSS FUND. The Order of St. John and New Zealand Red Cross Society acknowledges the following subscriptions for the week ended December 23 for the sick and wounded, soldiers at the various hospitals where New Zealanders are lying:— Previously acknowledged £12,961 8/6; Christchurch Cathedral offertories (November 2), £l2 3/10, the Tawera Patriotic Association £lO, Anonymous 3/-, Mrs R. IT. Wood (monthly) £2, School Children (Eiffelton) 6/-, Children of Standard I. (Philipstown School) 2/9, Evan and Doris Musgrove (proceeds of children's bazaar) £1 10/11, Belfast Infant School (per Miss Cook) 10/-; total, £12,988 5/-.
