THE FILM CENSORSHIP.
DISCUSSED BY CONFERENCE, Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 1. A conference of men and women, representative of various local educational and social welfare bodies throughout New Zealand, to-day discussed the question of censorship of picture films. A resolution was adopted:—"That the conference, while fully appreciating the useful and educational value of the kineinatograph, is of opinion that the class of moving pictures at present exhibited in New Zealand constitutes a grave danger to the moral and social welfare of the community, and it affirms the necessity for strict supervision by the Government of all films exhibited to the public." The conference urged the appointment of an officer or board to inspect and license all films, also that a list of unsuitable films should be published in the "Police Gazette."
