TEMPERANCE INSTRUCTION.

EDUCATION BOARD ACTION. At the last meeting of the Education Board a letter was received from the Minister of Education relative to temperance instruction in the schools. At to-day's meeting of the board it was agreed to have the Minister's letter printed and distributed to head teachers and school committees, in order that the temperance charts should be more prominently displayed in the school rooms and, regularly used. , Speaking on the question Mr M. Dalziel said that it was regrettable that there were no temperance text books 1 available suitable for use in the schools, those in existence being of too technical and scientific a character. The charts alone were insufficient as an educational medium and at« later meeting he proposed to move in the direction of remedying the position in the matter of text books.
