ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A WOMAN KILLED. Early yesterday morning, Mr and Mrs Shirley and child were returning a motor car from a patriotic dance, which was held- in Lauriston on Monady, when the car skidded on the loose shingle near Mr Alex. Dr'ummond's residence. The wheels apparently became locked, overturning the car. Mrs Shirley was pinned beneath, and •Mr Shirley was severely shaken. Mrs Shirley died before medical aid could arrive. The child was not hurt, but Mr Shirley is suffering from the effects of the shaking and from shock. The family had been living in the district only 18 months, having purchased part of the Balrazie Estate. CRUSHED TO DEATH. Press 'Association. WELLINGTON, November 30. While attempting to cross Willis Street to-night, a sailor named Donald McNeil was caught between two tram ears arid crushed so badly that when extricated from under one of the cars ne was dead. Apparently he had tried to avoid one approaching car, and did not notice another coming from the opposite direction.
