Mr Henry Ford, oi ! the Ford Motor Company, in conjunction with' other pacifists, is organising a peace mission to Europe on a large scale. Tliey have chartered the steamer Oscar 11., and are refitting it luxuriously. She is to sail on December 4. A-manifesto lias been issued, declaring:- , The time has come to cease firing. We are going to try to get the 'Boches' out of the trenches and be back home for Christmas Day. Mr Ford has not disclosed the plans in regard to the proposal to call a neutral conference. Mr T. A. Edison was the first to accept the invitation to join the mission, and he was followed by Miss Jane Addams and Mr John "Wanamaker. When Mr Ford gets to sea he will send out wireless messages in continuation of the campaign which was inaugurated by women's organisations who are importuning President Wilson, by a flood of telegraphic requests, to intervene. > Mr Ford declares his willingness to sacrifice his every penny in the effort to promote peace. He is convinced that 200 pacifists can be conveyed to and from Europe at £IOOO a head.
