WAR SPECIAL SPLENDID SUCCESS. BRITISH SUBMARINES' ACTIVE. GREAT DAMAGE IN THE SEA OF MARMORA. (Received August 3, 3.15 p.m.) LQNDpN, August 2. The Admiralty states that the German [destroyer sunk belongs to the G196 class. The Vice-Admiral in the Eastern Mediterranean reports that a British submarine in the Sea of Marmora torpedoed a steamer iof 3000 tons off Mudania, prior to which v several sailing vessels were secured. The explosion was very heavy. She also torpedoed a small steamer close to Karaboglia Bay. Constantinople reports state that a gunboat was torpedoed, and possibly this is the same incident. Torpedoes were also fired at lighters alongside the Constantinople arsenal. There ■were heavy explosions, but the results were not seen. The Zevunlik powder mills were bombarded, but the results were hot ascertainable owing to darkness. We bombarded the railway west of Kara Burnu, blocking . the line scfeithat a troop train was unable to pass. It was fired at until it steamed back, but three truckloads of ammunition "were blown up. DECLARATION DAY. WELLINGTON, August 3. The Parliamentary correspondent of The Sun telegraphs that the resolution in connection with the anniversary of the declaration of war suggested for all municipal' bodies throughout the Empire will be adopted by the House to-morrow afternoon.
