A LARGE ESTATE.

HON. E. C. J. STEVENS'S WILL. " __ ( ONLY RELATIVES BENEFIT. Probate of the will of Ihe late Hon. Edward Cephas John Stevens was granted by his Honour Mr Justice Denniston yesterday afternoon. The estate was sworn for probate as under £290,000. The will is a Very long and rather complicated one. It names Henry Allison, accountant, ftnd Walter George Cotterill, accountant, both of Ghristchiirch, as the executors and trustees of the estate. All household furniture and similar personal property, with deceased's horses, carriages, are left to his widow, Maria Stevens, together with £SOO for her immediate requirements, this sum to be paid immediately upon testator's death.

«The will then bequeaths all the • testator's shares in , Barman ami Stevens, Ltd,, to the trustees, to be divided equally between them. The reyl estate and the residue of the personal estate are to be realised by the trustees at their discretion, subject to deceased's widow having the right to occupy, free of rent, during her "lifetime testator's residence, "Engleiield," Lin wood. Out of the net income from the residuary trust = Mrs "Stevens is* to have a clear annual'income of £2OOO. Other annuities are left as follow:—To Charles Stevens, nephew of deceased, £200; to Frances Mildred Kidgell, sister of deceased, £500; to Emily Anne D'Oyly, cousin, £500; to Lucianne Robina D'Oyly, cousin, £200; to Charlotte D'Oyly, widow of deceased's la lie cousin, Robert \Y. C. O'Oyly, £IOO. AH these annuities are to be paid during the lifetime of Mrs Stevens. The trustees are directed to pay £SOO a year during the life of Mrs Stevens to the widow and children of deceased's cousin, Robert Edward D'Oyly, who died in 1010. Upon the death of Mrs Stevens a sum of £20,000 is to be placed in trust for deceased's nephew, Charles. Stevens, or, if he dies before Mrs Stevens, for his children. A sum of £2OOO is to be placed in trust for deceased's cousin, Marianne Fleming; wife of Arthur Richard Fleming, of Port Levy, if she survives Mrs Stevens, or if she does not so for her husband', or his children in the event of Mr Fleming's death. The will directs that certain existing trusts are to be continued. After the death of Mrs Stevens, the residuary estate is to be divided into two moieties. One of these is to be divided in equal shares among the children of Robert Edward D'Oyly. The other moiety is to go to Emily Anne D'Oyly, or her children, if she has any, and, in the event of her dying without issue, it is to revert to the beneficiaries of the first moiety. All legacies are lo be paid free of death duties. No bequests are made to charities.
