SHIPPING NOTES.

The Union Company's Karamu, which nvrived at Lyttclton to-day from Greymouth, is to sail to-morrow for Timaru, thence on to Napier and Gisborne (inner harbours). The Union Company's Kaitangata arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday evening from Westport to discharge a quantity of coal and timber, sail to-night for Duricdin. to complete discharge. Captain Whybourne, late of the Komata, is in command of the Kaitangata, vice Captain Carey, who has transferred to. the Komata. The Canterbury Shipping Company's Stonn arrived at Lyttelton yesterday from Tarakohc with cement. The vessel, leaves this afternoon for Duncdin and Timaru, and is due back again on Thursday, sailing the same day for Picton and Wanganui. The same company's Petone arrived yesterday from Timaru, and sails this afternoon for Wellington and Wanganui. The Wakatu leaves Wellingon to-night for Lyttelton, and sails for Kaikoura arid Wellington on Wednesday. An expected arrival at Lyttelton 'towards the end of this week is the Shaw-Savill liner Delphic, from London (in ballast). The s.s. Defender has left Hokitika with a full cargo of timber for Lyttelton, and is due here on Wednesday. ,The Defender will load produce and leave on the return trip on Thursday. The La Blanca, now at Wellington, is 'due here on Friday to discharge and load. The Hurunui sailed from Liverpool on July 1 for Melbourne, Sydney, and way ports. Captain Ritchie, who has been on holiday leave, has rejoined the Arahura, and Captain Cameron, who has becu relieving him, has rejoined the Patecua, vice Captain Holmes, who has come ashore for instructions. Mr A. Winter, lute chief engineer of the Kanna, has rejoined the Tarawera in a similar capacity, relieving llr A. Sadler, who has come ashore. Mr W. Paul, acting-second officer of the i Mocraki, has come ashore, and Mr T. Bowling lias rejoined the vessel 'as second.
