FRUITGROWERS' ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Fruitgrowers' Association was held on Saturday evening, Mr S. L Fitch presiding over a good attendance.
Reference was made to the large number of fruit trees still infested with codlin .moth, and the necessity was urged for the appointment of more instructors to see that fruitgrowers made greater efforts to eradicate the moth.
Messrs J. Illingworlh, S. I. Fitch, J. Longton, and "W. Wray were appointed delegates to the annual' conference of the federation.
The Department of Agriculture wrote stating it had received a letter from the Mercantile Adjustment and Protective, Service, Calcutta. The company had stated that enquiries had been made by persons and iirms in India asking to be supplied with the names and addresses of merchants and others in the Dominion handling apples for export. The Department had supplied the firm with a list of the principal fruitgrowers' associations handling apples for export and the names of the leading merchants handling fruit for export. — The letter was received.
The constitution of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation, approved by the executive, was read and discussed.
