LINWOOD-DALLINGTON SOLDIERS' AID.
A full house and good fellowship were the predominating features at a gathering that was held on Saturday night at the Linwood School rooms, when a euchre tournament and dance was the means of the starting of a capital fund for the above "aid." A large room was set apart for the card players, while other folk regaled themselves with musical items and dancing. The lady's first prize was gained by Mrs Harrison, and the gentlemen's first prize by Mr H. L. Burgess. (loods were also sold to help swell the funds of the "aid," and a doll and cradle were, drawn for. The first prize, the cradle, went to Miss Evans, and the second, the doll, to Mr F. Evans, the recipients giving these articles back to be again drawn for on some future occasion. Refreshments were served, and a small second tournament of cards was arranged, while the first players enjoyed a short dance. It is anticipated that about £3O will be the outcome of the "aid's" first effort.
