GOVERNOR'S TOUR.

VISIT TO GISBORNE. Press Association* GISBOKNE, December 19. The Governor paid his first official visit to Gisborne to-day,, accompanied by the Countess of Liverpool. His Excellency was accorded a civic welcome. Loyal addresses, were presented by Europeans and : Maoris/- His Excellency, in reply, said he had not had an opportunity to speak in public for some time. He desired to thank New Zealanders for the men they were sending to the war to help the Old Country in the time of need. The Expeditionary Forces sent away were the greatest honour to the country to which they belonged. Come what may, good or ill, they were going to see the war through to the end, and come out on top. This afternoon his Excellency opened Gisborne's new £70,000 hospital. December 20. The Earl and Countess of Liverpool were taken for a motor tour through the district to-day. They leave for the south to-night.
