AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
AN EVENING MEETING. The first, of a series of evening meetings was held yesterday at Lancaster Park. by the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club. Considering that these were the first races of the season, and the runners were therefore short of ''condition," also that a strong southeasterly wind was blowing, the form shown in general was satisfactory. The two . races which were carded —5 00 yds and one mile handicaps— contested by very fair fields, and they were controlled efficiently. Results were as follow: ' 100 YARDS HANDICAP. First heat: T.
