PAYMENT OF TEACHERS.
To the Editor of THE' SUN. ; Sir,— During the long- years of the .Liberal administration the members of the teaching profession pleaded and fought for an equitable scale of salaries. The Liberals were full of promises, but their, -perfcirniances-havo not been inspiring. No wonder Dr Thacker was non-plussed the- other •night when he was' asked why, Sir Joseph Ward had not secured x to the teachers the measure of justice which he is how advocating. The Liberals had their opportunity, but kept on promising and promising. 'lt is very kind of Dr Thacker to- tell the teachers not to mind why Sir Joseph, Ward did not help the teachers, ami that "he is going to do it." It is an old story, the falsity of which has taken the heart out of teachers. The present Government did redeem its promises, and will do more for the teachers in the future. I hope that my fellow-teachers will suppOrt the Government which has come to their help.—l am, etc., : : TEACHER.
