. ' m ' i ii UNION CLUB'S RACES. The crews for the Union Bowing Club's races for the President's Cup, the first—heat of which will be rowed to-night, are as follow:—A. V. Enipson (str)*, E. Velvin, J. Murch, C. Dallison; H. Gibson (str), V. Tims, F. Cronin, "A. Summerfield; A. S. Drayton (str), T. Booth, B. Mahon, A. Freeman; E. Meachen str), H. Layton, G. Watson, R. Meyer; A. Osborne (str), R. Mann, W. E. Bell, H. Dyer.
CANTERBURY CLUB. The first heats for the Canterbury Rowing Club's Trial Pairs were rowed last evening at Kerr's Reach, Burwood. Results: — _ Stapp and Hills defeated Gladstone and Ma-theson easily. Clark and Clark defeated Dalton and Kennedy after a closely-contested race. Clark brothers were a little behind at the half-mile, and they dropped back three lengths, but overtook their opponents about 100 yds from the finishingpost, and won by several lengths, the bow in Dalton's crew being unable to finish. The races will be continued this evening, and the final ivill be rowed to-mor-row. The club will hold a flannel dance at the boathouso on Saturday evening.
