Evidence for the plaintiff was thai Lloyd, after becoming formally >v gaged, arranged to marry nnothef gpid. Plaintiff's sister objected to the marriage, .and the officiating clergyman stopped the ceremony. The adherents of the two parties were present in strong force and created a scene. The police were called to the church and cleared it. The officiating clergyman gave evidence that the verger told him; that people inside and outside the church were armed with revolvers. He quietened them and secured the dispersal of the parties. It was a most dreadful occurrence. Lloyd, wlio has since been married, denied a promise to marry Miss Rice.
