OPPOSITION LEADER.

Press Association. INVERCARGILL, November 18. Sir Joseph Ward addressed a erowded meeting of about 600 people at Waikiwi, a suburb of Invercargill, to-night, and Avas accorded an enthusiastic reception. The chair was occupied by Mr W. A. Morris, a former opponent. At the conclusion of the speech the- following motion was carried:—"That this meeting tlianks Sir Joseph Ward for his able address, expresses confidence in him as Leader of the Liberal Party, congratulates him on the patriotic stand he took in Parliament by dropping party differences during the height of the crisis, and sincerely hopes that he will not only be returned as our member once more, but that as a result of the election, he will be once again placed at the head of the Government."
