TO-DAY'S POULTRY MARKET. ,• There was a fair entry at the poultry sale to-day and prices were firm. Table chickens 4/6 to 8/2, lienS 2/6 to 5/3, pullets 4/- to 8/6j ducks 5/- to 6/6, all per pair, i A hen and nine ducklings given by Mrs Walcot Wood realised £1 11/- for the Belgian Fund, making a total of £73 10/- raised at this poultry market, for the war funds. THE WOOL SALES.; The manager of the Bristol and ; Dominion Producers' Association, Welling'ton,. has re.ceived \ the fpllowiiig cable from the London office:— Crossbteds fine i7d, medium 14d, coarse 13d, steady, good demand. Tal- - to 36/-, demand good, prices advancing. Sheepskins, full wool 10 d, pelts'sd, prices firm. " Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 14. ■ A little over 11,000 bales will be offered at the first wool" sales of the Wellington season on Wednesday next.
THE SHARE MARKET.
• The Christchurch, Stock' lias been closed this v week on account of the Carnival Week holidays, so lio calls have been held. In other centres the share market has shown a fair amount of activity. For several weeks past the number of sales reported has been small, although it is understood a fair amount of business has been done. In mining stocks, Waihis have remained practically stationary. Grand Junctions have firmed 24/6 to 24/9, and Talismans from 27/9 to 28/9. Banks.—The reported transactions this week were: National Banks at £5 5/-, and Union Banks at £sl. There are buyers of Bank of New Zealand fully-paid at £ls 5/-, and the old issue at £lO, without sellers. Buyers of National Banks are quoted at £5 3/-. Gas.—A sale of Auckland Gas at 27/9 was reported. No quotations for any of the other stocks under this heading have been made. r . Insurance. —The following sales in this section have been advised: South British 81/- and 81/6; New Zealand £5 'Hi/-. The latest quotations are as follow: —New Zealand, buyers £5 11/6; South British, buyers, £4 2/6; Standard,; buyers £1 10/-, sellers £1 15/-; National, sellers £2 9/-. . Shipping.—Sales of Union Steam Ship Co. ordinaiy shares have been reported at 21/5, and 20/3 has been obtained for the preference issue. : Buyers of the ordinary issue are quoting 21/-, with sellers at 21/6. Coal. —A sale pf ,Westport-Stoekt;ons was recorded at 3/6, and Taupiri at 17/-. Buyers of the former are now offering 3/7. The increase in the-market price of these shares is doubtless due to the increased output at the mines. There are buyers of Westports at £l.ll/6, witli sellers at 32/-. Meats. —After a lapse or several months a sale of Gear Meats at £l4 7/6 has been recorded. No other quotations or sales have been advised under this heading this week. Mining.—Wailii: Prices this week have remained practically unchanged. Sales were reported at 34/6 to 34/9. Buyers are now offering 34/3, with sellers" at 35/-. Grand Junctions: A sale at 24/5) cuiii div. was made at the beginning of the week. After the dividend of 3/6 per share had been paid sales were advised at from 23/3 to 23/6. Talismans: A dividend of 1/9 per share,- and a bonus of 3d per share, have been declared, and are payable on .December 8. This declaration caused a sharp rise in the-'price-of 1 th'es'e shares, Which advanced from 27/6 to 28/9, with a sharp demand at the latter figure. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Presi Association.
