NEW ZEALAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION.
The usual monthly meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held last evening, when there were pre Sli , n ;—Messrs P. Selig (chairman), W. G Garrard, J. M. Barron, T. Ritchie, C, F. Mark, H. F. Nicoll, H. W. Kitchingham, and W. E. Simes. Ah application for registration by the Hawke 's Bay Trotting Club was granted. Considerable correspondence was read in. connection with the transfer of the horse Hugh from W. J. Urquhart to A. A.' Wagner of Hobart. After discussion it was resolved that H. Robertson, of Invercargill, who was stated to have effected the sale* be requested to explain his transactions in the matter. A letter was received from Mr D. Buick, M.P., in reference to his speech on the Gaming Bill, and forwarding a verbatim report of what he said in re gard to the hunter being more useful than the trotter, and that trotting was the biggest swindle that could take place on a racecourse. Mr Selig drew attention to the extra ordinary statements made by Mr Buick, especially as that gentleman was a patron of the Manawatu Trotting Club" It was decided to forward a copy of the speech to the Manawatu Trotting Club, and urge that Mr Buick's position as its patroii be considered. It was resolved to forward to the Westland Trotting Club the resolution of the conference executive deprecating the taking of entries in hotels. A resolution was ordered to be placod on the minutes to the effect that no programme of a totalisator club should be passed if the nominations were received in an hotel. The Oamaru Club reported that after considering a complaint regarding the riding of Bright Alice by James Bryce, it had taken no action. W. Burrows had been severely cautioned for his rid-
ing of Special Ribbon. Clements h&d v been fined. £5 for his riding of Bell Boy .» L. ■ A. Buttlrfield had been fined £2 for his riding of 'Alpine K.; and D. McNaughton had been severely cautioned ' for failing to report to the stewards. . The Action was approved. , The Greymouth Club's action in cautioning 6. H. _ Ayres fo» bumping Ma-nola, and M. Holland for unduly * * flourishing his whip, was-endorsed. The \ club also stated that S. M. August had been fined £5 for speaking to M. Holland . . after leaving the saddling paddock. No action was taken on the Te Puke Hack Racing Club's application for the , removal of disqualification from J.' Brown, S. Tanner, and'S. Darragh. It was decided that the appointment of F. T. Pannell as advisory steward by .'. the Marlborough Club could hot be up- - held, as the appointment lay solely in , the hands, of the association.-

Conditional licenses were issued to T. Frost, E. Abbott, and J. Sinithel. The application of Alexander M'Rae v/as held over. Permission was.'refused J. W. Fraser to work in a trainer's stable. The board went into committee on the Alexandra Park case and decided to defer the matter for two mouths.
PEOPLE'S DAY AT ADBINGTON.
What so far has been the most successful trotting meeting ever held under the auspices of the Now Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club will/ bo brought to a "conclusion to-morrow. People's Day has always been the.most popular day of the fixture in past years, and there is every indication of to-mor-row's crowd breaking all previous records. -
The bill-of-fare is a particularly attractive one, amongst the .star items being the Christchureh Handicap of 750 sovs, Dominion Trotting Handicap of GOOsovs, and the Victoria Handicap of 35050w,, in all of which high-class fields are sure to be seen out. Racing will commence shortly after noon, and there will be *a good tram service to the course.
